Public consultation on Irish Rail timetable changes open until 27th September 2023

Irish Rail, in partnership with the National Transport Authority, is set to introduce changes to rail timetables starting from December 10, 2023. Details of the proposed schedule have been released, and members of the public are invited to share their input before the final version of the new timetable is confirmed.

Feedback can be submitted through the consultation survey, which remains open until Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

Some of the proposed timetable changes and new services include:

  • DART schedules for Saturdays and Sundays to undergo substantial modifications to enhance service efficiency, with further timetable changes on other services to/from Dublin Connolly as a result of the proposed changes to the DART timetable

  • An extra service from Dublin Heuston to Cork to be available from Monday to Friday, departing at 06:00 hrs and arriving in Cork city at 8:32 am, allowing commuters to arrive in Cork city before 9:00 am.

  • An additional 12.20 pm from Dublin Heuston to Carlow service and a 3.15 pm Carlow to Dublin Heuston service daily (Monday to Friday)

  • Dublin Heuston to Portlaoise commuter services to see a substantial increase in the number of Sunday services. Commuters traveling from Portlaoise to Heuston to have 8 more service options, while those going from Heuston to Portlaoise to have 7 additional services, enhancing the existing Heuston/Kildare services. Additionally, several Heuston/Cork services will introduce new stops at Portlaoise to facilitate connections with these enhanced commuter services

  • Extra train services from Dublin Connolly to Drogheda at 12:20 pm, 1:27 pm, and 2:20 pm, and from Drogheda to Dublin Connolly at 11:40 am and 12:40 pm, from Monday to Friday.
