Dublin Public Transport Updates for St. Brigid’s Bank Holiday Weekend

This St. Brigid’s Day Bank Holiday weekend — Friday 30 January to Monday 2 February 2026 — significant public transport disruptions and timetable changes will affect services across Dublin and the Greater Dublin Area.

Passengers are strongly advised to check schedules in advance, allow extra travel time, and expect delays, particularly on DART and Northern Commuter rail services, which will be heavily impacted by engineering works.

Irish Rail / DART

Due to engineering works taking place on Saturday 31 January, Sunday 1 February, and Bank Holiday Monday 2 February, significant rail disruptions will affect DART and Northern Commuter services throughout the St. Brigid’s Day Bank Holiday weekend.

  • No DART services will operate between Connolly and Malahide / Howth.

  • DART services will operate only between Connolly and Bray / Greystones.

  • The following DART stations will be closed:

    • Malahide

    • Portmarnock

    • Clongriffin

    • Howth

    • Sutton

    • Bayside

    • Howth Junction & Donaghmede

    • Kilbarrack

    • Raheny

    • Harmonstown

    • Killester

    • Clontarf Road

    Dublin Bus will accept valid rail tickets within the affected areas.

  • All Northern Commuter rail services will be cancelled between Connolly and Drogheda.

  • Replacement bus services will operate between:

    • Drogheda / Balbriggan / Donabate ↔ Connolly

    • Skerries / Rush & Lusk ↔ Connolly (via M1 & Port Tunnel)

  • The following stations will be closed: Laytown, Gormonstown, Balbriggan,  Skerries, Rush and Lusk and Donabate.

  • Only Belfast Enterprise services will serve Dundalk.

Dublin Bus

  • Sunday timetable operating on Bank Holiday Monday (2 February)

  • Full Nitelink services: Friday 30 January & Saturday 31 January

  • No Nitelink service: Sunday 1 February

  • 24-hour routes continue to operate daily

Luas Tram Services

Over the St. Brigid’s Day Bank Holiday weekend, Luas services will operate on modified timetables, which broadly reflect Sunday operating hours across all three days (Saturday–Monday).

Passengers should note later start times and earlier finishes, particularly if travelling early in the morning or late at night.

Green Line Operating Hours:

  • Saturday 31 January, Sunday 1 February, and Bank Holiday Monday 2 February

    • Broombridge Southbound: 07:00 – 23:17

    • Brides Glen Northbound: 07:00 – 23:00

Red Line Operating Hours:

  • Saturday 31 January, Sunday 1 February, and Bank Holiday Monday 2 February

    • Saggart Eastbound: 07:12 – 22:51

    • The Point Westbound: 07:00 - 23:30

    • Connolly Westbound: 12:03 – 19:33

Normal Luas operating hours resume from Tuesday 3rd February 2026.

Events in Dublin Over the Weekend

Brigit: Dublin City Celebrating Women Festival – Friday 30 January to Monday 2 February
Over 120 events will take place across Dublin City throughout the St. Brigid’s Day Bank Holiday weekend, celebrating women’s contributions to culture, society, and history.

Brigit Parade – Sunday 1 February
A large city-centre parade featuring performers, dancers, skaters, cyclists, and live music will travel from Capel Street to O’Connell Street on Sunday afternoon.
