Public transport in Dublin for Easter Weekend

Here’s a full roundup of public transport arrangements for Dublin over the Easter bank holiday weekend, from Friday 3rd April to Monday 6th April 2026.

Trains

Iarnród Éireann has advised of significant service changes due to engineering works:​

DART Services:
From Saturday 4th to Monday 6th April, no DART services will operate between Connolly and Dún Laoghaire.

  • Services will run between Malahide / Howth and Connolly

  • And separately between Dún Laoghaire and Bray / Greystones.

Rosslare / South-East line:
From Saturday 4th to Monday 6th April, Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort services will involve bus transfers between Connolly and Bray, operating to a revised schedule.

Galway / Westport services:
From Friday 3rd April (evening) to Monday 6th April (morning):

  • Dublin Heuston to Galway services will be replaced by bus for the full journey

  • Dublin Heuston to Westport services will involve bus transfers between Heuston and Athlone

Trams (Luas)

Luas services will operate with the following arrangements:

Good Friday, 3rd April
Both Red and Green Lines will operate a Saturday timetable.

Saturday, 4th April
Normal Saturday services will run.

Easter Sunday, 5th April
Both lines will operate a Sunday service.

There will be no service between Dominick and St. Stephen’s Green on the Green Line until approximately 16:15 due to Easter Rising commemorations at the GPO.

  • Trams will run between Broombridge and Dominick

  • And between St. Stephen’s Green and Brides Glen

  • Full service resumes from approximately 16:15

On the Red Line, services will operate as normal Sunday services, with possible delays subject to Gardaí instruction.

Easter Monday, 6th April
Both lines will operate a Sunday timetable, with services beginning at 07:00.

Buses

Dublin Bus services will operate as follows:

Good Friday, 3rd April
A Saturday service will operate, including Nitelink services.

Saturday, 4th April
A Saturday service will operate, including Nitelink services.

Easter Sunday, 5th April
A Sunday service will operate.
No Nitelink services will run.

Easter Monday, 6th April
A Sunday service will operate.
No Nitelink services will run.

Due to Easter Rising commemorations, temporary diversions will be in place in Dublin city centre on Easter Sunday.
