Public transport in Dublin for Easter Weekend 2025

Here’s a full roundup of public transport arrangements for Dublin over the Easter bank holiday weekend, from Friday 18th to Monday 21st April 2025.​

Trains

Iarnród Éireann has advised of significant service changes due to engineering works:​

  • DART Services: From Saturday 19th to Monday 21st April, DART services between Dublin Connolly and Malahide/Howth are suspended. Services will operate between Connolly and Bray/Greystones only. Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland will accept valid rail tickets within the affected areas. ​

  • Northern Commuter Services: No train services between Dublin Connolly and Drogheda from Saturday 19th to Monday 21st April. A limited bus transfer service will operate between Drogheda, Balbriggan, Donabate, and Dublin Connolly, as well as between Skerries, Rush & Lusk, and Dublin Connolly. ​

  • Enterprise Services (Dublin–Belfast): All Enterprise train services between Dublin Connolly and Belfast Grand Central are replaced by bus transfers over the Easter weekend. Passengers traveling to Portadown should change at Newry. ​

Trams (Luas)

Luas services will operate with some changes over the Easter weekend:​

  • Good Friday, 18th April: Both Red and Green Lines will run Saturday operating hours and frequency. ​

  • Saturday, 19th April: Normal Saturday operating hours and frequency on both lines. ​

  • Easter Sunday, 20th April:

    • Green Line: Trams will run Sunday operating hours. However, from first tram until approximately 16:15, there will be no service between Dominick and St. Stephen’s Green to accommodate the Easter Sunday 1916 Commemoration Event at the GPO. During this time, trams will operate between Broombridge and Dominick, and between St. Stephen’s Green and Brides Glen. Full service will resume from around 16:15.

    • Red Line: Trams will run Sunday operating hours. There may be some delays to facilitate the Easter Sunday Parade at the GPO, subject to Gardaí instruction. ​

  • Easter Monday, 21st April: Both Red and Green Lines will operate Sunday operating hours, with services beginning at 07:00. ​

Buses

Dublin Bus services will operate as follows over the Easter weekend:​

  • Good Friday, 18th April: A weekday service will be in operation, including a full Nitelink service. ​

  • Saturday, 19th April: A Saturday service will be in operation, including a full Nitelink service. ​

  • Easter Sunday, 20th April: A Sunday service will be in operation; no Nitelink services will operate. ​

  • Easter Monday, 21st April: A Sunday service will be in operation; no Nitelink services will operate. ​

Additionally, due to Easter Rising commemorations in Dublin City Centre, there will be temporary bus diversions in place on Easter Sunday. ​
