Public Transport in Dublin for May Bank Holiday Weekend 2026
If you’re planning to travel around Dublin over the May Bank Holiday weekend, here’s what you need to know about changes to public transport services from Friday 1 May to Monday 4 May 2026.
Dublin Bus & Nitelink
Dublin Bus will operate a Sunday timetable on Bank Holiday Monday, 4 May.
A full Nitelink service will run on Friday 1 May and Saturday 2 May, but there will be no Nitelink service on Sunday 3 May.
Dublin Bus’s 24-hour services will continue to run seven days a week, including over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Luas
There will be changes to Luas services from Saturday 2 May to Bank Holiday Monday 4 May due to engineering works on the Red Line.
From Saturday 2 May to Monday 4 May, Red Line trams will operate between Heuston and The Point only. Replacement buses will operate between Tallaght/Saggart and Heuston.
The Green Line will not be affected by these engineering works and will operate a normal service on Saturday 2 May and Bank Holiday Monday 4 May.
Further changes will apply on Sunday 3 May due to the Dublin City Council Half Marathon.
On the Red Line, from 07:00, replacement buses will operate to Heuston only, with no tram service between Heuston and The Point. From approximately 09:45, trams will resume between Heuston and Connolly. From 14:00, full tram services will resume between Connolly and The Point.
On the Green Line, there will be no trams between St Stephen’s Green and Dominick from 07:00 to 09:30. During this period, trams will operate between Brides Glen and St Stephen’s Green, and between Broombridge and Dominick.

DART & Rail
Rail services will be affected by engineering works from Saturday 2 May to Bank Holiday Monday 4 May.
DART services will be impacted on the northside of the network, with no DART service between Connolly and Malahide/Howth.
DART services will operate between Connolly and Bray/Greystones only.
The following DART stations will be closed across the three days: Malahide, Portmarnock, Clongriffin, Howth, Sutton, Bayside, Howth Junction & Donaghmede, Kilbarrack, Raheny, Harmonstown, Killester and Clontarf Road.
Northern Commuter services will also be affected by engineering works between Clontarf Road and Drogheda. All Northern Commuter services will be cancelled and replaced by a limited bus service. Laytown, Gormanston, Balbriggan, Skerries, Rush & Lusk and Donabate stations will be closed. Only Belfast services will serve Dundalk.
Belfast services will also be affected, with some Connolly to/from Belfast Grand Central trains cancelled. Some services will involve bus transfers between Connolly and Drogheda, connecting with trains between Drogheda and Belfast Grand Central.
