Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has confirmed that full Luas Red Line services between Connolly and The Point will resume this Friday, 28 November. The reopening follows major reconstruction and safety works at George’s Dock after the August fire incident.

TII says the bridge has been fully rebuilt, utilities reinstated, and the Luas track and overhead power system restored. The Commission for Railway Regulation has now approved the safe return of passenger services.

TII, Transdev, Jons Civil Engineering, ROD, GPX Rail, and Custom House Docks Management Ltd all worked together to complete the complex project within four months. The National Transport Authority and TII have thanked passengers for their patience during the disruption — and noted that the reopening comes just in time for the busy Christmas travel period.

Luas carries over 140,000 passengers a day, with around 20,000 daily journeys typically made on this section of the Red Line.
