Public transport in Dublin for June Bank Holiday Weekend

As the June Bank Holiday approaches, here's a comprehensive guide to public transport services in Dublin from Friday 29 May to Monday 1 June 2026.

With major events like the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon, Bloom Festival, Forbidden Fruit Festival, concerts in St Anne’s Park, sporting fixtures at Aviva Stadium and Croke Park, and various other events taking place across the city, it's advisable to plan your journeys in advance and allow extra time to reach your destinations.

Buses

Dublin Bus services will operate as follows over the weekend:

  • Friday, 29 May & Saturday, 30 May: Normal services will run, including full Nitelink operations on both nights.

  • Sunday, 31 May: Regular Sunday services will be in place. However, please be aware that a number of diversions will occur across the city to accommodate the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon, Bloom Festival and other major events. There will be no Nitelink service on this night.

  • Bank Holiday Monday, 1 June: All services will operate on a Sunday timetable.

Trams

Luas tram services will operate as follows:

  • Saturday, 30 May & Sunday, 31 May: Normal operating hours and frequency will be maintained on both the Green and Red Lines.

  • Bank Holiday Monday, 1 June: Services will follow Sunday operating hours and frequency, with trams starting from 07:00 on both lines.

  • Passengers travelling to major events including Bloom Festival, Forbidden Fruit Festival and the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Trains

Due to major engineering works between Connolly and Bray, and between Drogheda and Dundalk, from Saturday, 30 May to Bank Holiday Monday, 1 June, the following service alterations will apply:

  • No train service between Connolly and Greystones.

  • The following stations will be closed: Tara Street, Pearse, Grand Canal Dock, Lansdowne Road, Sandymount, Sydney Parade, Booterstown, Blackrock, Seapoint, Salthill and Monkstown, Dún Laoghaire, Sandycove and Glasthule, Glenageary, Dalkey, Killiney, Shankill, Woodbrook and Bray.

  • DART services will operate between:

    • Malahide / Howth and Connolly.There will be no DART service between Connolly and Dun Laoghaire.

  • There will be no DART service south of Connolly.

  • Rosslare services will run between Bray and Rosslare Europort. Direct bus transfers will operate between Connolly and Bray to connect with these services.

  • Engineering works between Drogheda and Dundalk will also affect Enterprise services between Dublin and Belfast. A two-hourly replacement bus and rail service will operate between Connolly, Drogheda, Dundalk, Newry, Portadown and Belfast Grand Central.

  • Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland will accept valid rail tickets on services between the closed stations.
