The Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is now in full swing in Wexford Town, running until Sunday, August 10th — and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest cultural events of the year. Whether you're heading down for a day of music and dancing or planning a longer visit, here’s what you need to know about getting there by public transport from Dublin.
By Train: What You Need to Know
Iarnród Éireann is running regular train services between Dublin Connolly and Wexford, but there are some temporary service changes due to the closure of the rail line along Wexford Quay for the duration of the Fleadh.
Key train details:
Trains from Dublin terminate in Wexford. If you're heading beyond Wexford (e.g., to Rosslare), bus transfers are provided from Wexford station.
Trains from Rosslare to Dublin begin in Wexford, with bus transfers from Rosslare Europort and Rosslare Strand to meet the train.
A special late-night service from Wexford to Connolly (Dublin) departs at 21:35 from Tuesday 5th to Friday 8th August, replacing the usual 21:25 Gorey service — handy if you’re staying late at the Fleadh.
First and last trains (Connolly to Wexford):
First train: ~09:35 from Connolly
Last regular train: ~18:28 from Connolly
Last return train from Wexford: 18:18 (plus the special 21:35 service on Tues–Fri)
Tickets and full timetables are available at irishrail.ie. Booking ahead is strongly advised.
By Bus: Direct Options from Dublin
If you'd prefer to take the bus — or if train times don’t suit your schedule — there are direct coach services from Dublin to Wexford Town available throughout the day.
