Dublin Bus will have diversions in place on Saturday 15 November 2025 due to the Clontarf Half Marathon and 5 Mile event. These will run from 09:45 to approx. 11:45.
Route 6 towards Abbey Street will divert from Black Banks via Howth Road and Raheny Village before returning to its normal path. The Howth Station direction is unaffected.
Route 130 towards Talbot Street will divert from Mount Prospect Avenue via St Gabriel’s Road, Seafield Road East and back to Clontarf Road. The Castle Avenue direction operates as normal.
The diversions are in place to facilitate the Joe Duffy BMW Clontarf Half Marathon & 5 Mile, a popular coastal event along the Clontarf Promenade and Bull Island. The route is flat and scenic, and attracts walkers, joggers and runners aiming for personal bests.
If you’re heading to the event — whether running or spectating — organisers strongly recommend public transport. Dublin Bus route N4 stops beside EastPoint Business Park, just a 5-minute walk from the race village. Clontarf Road DART Station is about 15 minutes away on foot, with a shuttle service running from 07:00 to 09:00 (though walking may be quicker if queues build). Covered bike parking is also available on site.
Limited event parking is available at EastPoint, but all cars must be parked before 09:00, and access via Alfie Byrne Road closes sharply at that time. No parking is permitted on approach roads or along the causeway.
If travelling through Clontarf or Raheny on Saturday morning, allow extra time. And for those taking part, best of luck and enjoy the day.
