Dublin Public Transport Arrangements for October Bank Holiday Weekend

Dublin buses in the city centre

Public transport services in Dublin will operate to altered timetables over the October Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday 25th to Monday 27th October). Passengers are advised to plan ahead as engineering works, marathon diversions and reduced timetables will affect rail, Luas and bus services.

Dublin Bus

Saturday 25 October

Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland will operate normal Saturday schedules.

Sunday 26 October

Services will operate to normal Sunday timetables, however a number of diversions will be in place throughout the day to accommodate the Dublin City Marathon.

Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys as rolling road closures will affect several city centre routes between early morning and mid-afternoon.

Bank Holiday Monday 27 October

All Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland routes will operate a Sunday service.

Normal weekday timetables resume on Tuesday 28 October.

Trains

Due to engineering works between Dublin Connolly and Howth / Drogheda, major service alterations will take place across all three days of the Bank Holiday weekend.

  • DART services will operate between Dublin Connolly and Bray / Greystones only.

  • There will be no DART service between Dublin Connolly and Malahide / Howth.

  • The following DART stations will be closed for train services: Malahide, Portmarnock, Clongriffin, Howth, Sutton, Bayside, Howth Junction & Donaghmede, Kilbarrack, Raheny, Harmonstown, Killester and Clontarf Road.

During the closure, Dublin Bus will accept valid rail tickets for travel between the affected stations.
Full DART and Northern Commuter services will resume on Tuesday 28th October.

Luas

Luas Green and Red Line services will operate throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, with some timetable adjustments due to the Dublin City Marathon and essential engineering works on the Red Line.

Saturday 25 October

Both lines will operate normal Saturday service hours and frequency.

  • First trams: Green Line from 05:30, Red Line from 05:00

  • Last trams: Around 00:30

Sunday 26 October

  • Dublin City Marathon: No Red Line service between Heuston and Connolly from approximately 08:45 to 10:45.
    Services will operate between Tallaght / Saggart and Heuston only during this time.

  • Engineering Works: Red Line trams will finish two hours earlier than normal on Sunday evening.

  • Green Line: Normal Sunday timetable.

  • First trams: from 06:45 (Green Line) and 07:00 (Red Line)

  • Last trams: around 23:30, with earlier finish on Red Line.

Bank Holiday Monday 27 October

Both Luas lines will operate Sunday service hours and frequency, starting from 07:00.
Normal weekday schedules resume on Tuesday 28 October.

(Park & Ride facilities remain open as usual at Cheeverstown, Red Cow, Tallaght, Ballyogan Wood, Stillorgan, Sandyford and Carrickmines.)
